except in fifth period Lindsey we were working on 'double-sounding words' and 'homophones'. In other words, puns.
You'd think I'd be good at this.
But the 'puns' were so bad omg
so examples of the 'double-sounding words'...
we were given a worksheet with a word bank of names like Jose and Henrietta and Oswald and Walter and etc. Then there were fifteen phrases that we had to use the names to fill in the blanks.
for example...
- Jose can you see? (Ohhhhhhh say can you seeeeeeee?)
- Henrietta big dinner and felt sick. (Henry ate a big dinner and felt sick.) [Amy and Raghu and Catherine K. seemed to find the phrase 'big dinner' hilarious...]
- Wayne dwops are falling on my head. (Rain drops are falling on my head.)
...
and for the 'homophones' worksheet we were given a phrase and had to find two words that sounded the same but meant different things.
like...
- stinky chicken = foul fowl
- spun globe = whirled world
- corny labyrinth = maize maze
and the guys made up this one
"What do you call a smart Indian kid covered in red sauce?" "RAGHU RAGU"
